I don't usually write reviews, yet alone negative ones but in this case I felt that it was warranted. The people at Hagers are nice and well meaning, but at least in my case they were pretty useless and did a poor job in helping us to plan our vacation. The first problem is that they don't book airfare, this means that they need to call a third party for any bookings. In our case the flights were complicated which is why I needed the help of a travel agency. The price that they quoted me was about $2,000 more than the price that I was able to get by booking the tickets myself. For the piece of the trip that they did book they FORGOT to book a connecting flight and it wasn't until I was about to leave that I caught the problem. I barely got an "I am sorry" from them and luckily the flight prices hadn't gone up. I had also told them that I was on a budget and asked if they could find a less expensive place to stay, so they downgraded the room to a non-beach view, but the room was still a suite and cost over $500 a night. We would have been happier staying in a more humble room that cost less. I needed assistance with this trip because I was really busy with work and had limited time, but it turned out that I ended up planning most of the complicated parts of our trip myself and the parts that they did plan I could have planned better. Since this agency doesn't book airfare and they basically only book packages (that you can easily book on your own) I am honestly not sure what the point of using them is. It will cost you more and expect a layer of incompetency (be sure to double check everything). They seem like nice well meaning people, but in the end that's doesn't help you to have a better vacation. My vacation was amazing, but no thanks to Hager's Journeys. It could have been equally as amazing and cost less without their assistance.
