Carol Steele and Across the Creek, when coupled with an Aravaipa Canyon hike, are the best kept secret in Arizona. Food, company, beauty and solitude all combine to virtually require every Arizonan to see it at least once. Hiking the creek for ten miles is an amazing experience. But so is listening to Carol Steel s life story and having warm bread melt in your mouth. Just sitting outside your casita and seeing the stars or watching the mountains is a grand experience. Enjoy!
We stayed three nights in early April, as we were looking for some retreat from town and planning to hike the Canyon. We had a wonderful peaceful time. The casitas where cozy and quiet, full of small details to enjoy. We were well stocked with fresh fruit and freshly baked muffins every day for breakfast. Delicious granola, quality coffe, and cream. Night sky is dark and perfect for stargazing. The pool was crystal clear and surrounded by citrus trees that provided great shade. Dinner was superb - including locally harvested ingredients in the salad, delicious entrees - fish, pork, chicken - even got to try my companion's vegetarian fare. Unique desserts that included a prickly pear sorbet one night, and a cake another time that had me asking for the recipe.
